The New York Rangers have been a team with many ups and downs.  They've always had a huge payroll of star players, but come up short of expectations.  Will 01-02 be the same?  The Rangers have been chasing Eric Lindros for awhile now.  Adam Graves and Valeri Kamensky have also departed.  The Rangers need a few more marquee players to take over.  They already have Messier, Fleury, York, and Malhotra, who are all great forwards.  Plus, they have two great prospects: Pavel Brendl and Jamie Lundmark.  Both seem poised to land a spot in the Rangers' lineup.  NYR drafted Dan Blackburn this year, and he's stepped up big time as the Blueshirts' backup.  He has come up with some great efforts in relief of Mike Richter, and was named the first star of the game vs. San Jose on December 28, 2001 for his stellar performance.
